FAQ

Where can I get the Big Dreams And Broken Hearts video?
The most frequent question I get is about the Big Dreams video.  It is commercially out of print but you can get new copies straight from the Michele Lee Website, as well as the soundtrack.  If you're willing to take the chance, you can buy copies off the Internet through Ebay.  Lifetime also runs the movie every few months.  If you don't mind commercials, this might be a good way to go.  Keep checking the site for BDBH show times on Lifetime.  I have been in contact with Michele Lee's site and have passed along your requests for BDBH to be released on DVD!

Where can I find ________ album/cd?
You can still find most of Dottie's albums in used record stores.
Gemm Records, Records By Mail, Grimey's Records, Lawrance Record Store, and RussT Records are some of my favorite shops for records.  As far as cds go, Amazon.com and CD Universe are two that I use.  Of course, there is always Ebay.  You buy at your own risk with Ebay, so I would recommend other resources first and Ebay as a last option.

How do we get more of Dottie's music released?
The best way I know to do is to write to the different  labels and let them know you are interested in getting more of Dottie's music released.  I've compiled a list of labels you can try writing to.  The Country Music Hall Of Fame also has a page up to request what they're calling 'hard to find' music, etc.  If Dottie's music isn't 'hard to find' I don't know what is.

RCA Records, Fuel 2000, Razor & Tie, K-Tel, Collectables Records, Bear Family, Time-Life, Heartland Music, Oh Boy Records

Most of the links are email addresses.  Time-Life and Heartland Music might be good ones to come up with something for Dottie.  Keep writing to Bear Family, too!  If you hear from anyone, let us know!

(Update)
Several of you have received replies from Bear-Family, Heartland Music, and Time-Life.  Those companies have stated that they are not planning to release anything in the near-future.  Please, don't stop trying!  The more interest they get about Dottie, the more likely they will consider putting something together.  Keep us posted and don't give up hope!

Why isn't Dottie in the Hall of Fame?
That's the $64,000 dollar question.  No one seems to have an answer.  Those who do know, aren't talking.  Dottie has fulfilled all the criteria to be considered and elected for the hall but they still haven't done so.  We have a petition for you to sign if you would like to see her in the hall.  We are hoping for 2000 signatures and then will send it to the Country Music Association/Hall of Fame committee to let them see that Dottie is still loved and respected and they need to do the right thing and elect her.  She needs to be nominated by the committee and she has been for the last two years!

Would/could you send me/let me buy ______ from your site?
No. Because of copyright violations, I will not make copies of the music or videos I have.  As for pictures...the same applies.  I don't have the time even if I wanted to.  And because of copyright violations, I won't be posting video or music clips.

Why don't you have Charlie Rich listed as a duet partner?
Because Dottie never recorded with Charlie Rich.  Be careful what you download from peer-to-peer sites.  Not only is it illegal, or your computer become infected, but songs can be mislabeled.  There is a copy of D-I-V-O-R-C-E out there that is labeled Dottie West and it isn't.  The song with "Charlie Rich" is actually Don Gibson.

Are you really Shelly West?
No, I'm not Shelly.  I'm not related to any members of the West/Marsh families (that I know of).  I'm just a fan who wanted to help keep Dottie's memory alive and educate the world on this terrific singer/songwriter.  If you send anything here for Shelly, Kerry, Mo or Dale, they will not receive it.
